Stand Up Paddleboarding
Stand up paddleboard rentals, lessons, and guided SUP tours on flat water.
Stand up paddleboarding grew from a niche into a fixture of the guided watersports business in about a decade, largely because a beginner can be upright and moving within an hour. Guided tours favor protected water where wind and boat wake stay manageable, which means bays, estuaries, spring runs, lakes, and slow rivers rather than open coast. Florida, California, Hawaii, and the Great Lakes support the densest operator networks, and mangrove tunnel tours, clear-bottom night paddles over spring vents, and sunrise coastal trips are all common commercial formats. Outfitters supply the board, paddle, leash, and a personal flotation device, which the Coast Guard classifies SUPs as requiring outside surf and swimming areas. The genuine prerequisite is comfort in water deep enough to fall into, since falling in is a normal part of the first hour rather than a sign anything went wrong.
